A delicious and crispy snack made with Lays chips, paneer (Indian cottage cheese), and a blend of spices. Perfect for parties or as a tea-time snack!
Ingredients
(Serves 2-3)
- 1 cup paneer (cut into small cubes)
- 1 packet Lays chips (any flavor, but classic salted works best)
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp chaat masala (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tbsp water (for the batter)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, combine cornflour, all-purpose flour, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, chaat masala, and salt.
- Add water gradually to make a smooth, thick batter. The batter should coat the paneer cubes well.
- Crush the Lays Chips:
- Take the Lays chips and crush them into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or food processor. Transfer the crumbs to a plate.
- Coat the Paneer Cubes:
- Dip each paneer cube into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Roll the coated paneer cube in the crushed Lays chips, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs stick well. Repeat for all paneer cubes.
- Fry the Paneer Bites:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the coated paneer cubes into the oil. Fry until golden and crispy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve:
- Serve hot with mint chutney, ketchup, or your favorite dip.
Tips
- For a healthier version, you can air-fry or bake the paneer bites at 180°C for 10-12 minutes.
- Add a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds) to the batter for extra flavor.
- Experiment with different Lays flavors like masala or sour cream for a unique twist.
Enjoy your crunchy and cheesy Lays Paneer Bites! 😊
