🍫 No Sugar Almond Hot Chocolate


📝 Ingredients (1 serving):

  • 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1–2 tsp pure maple syrup or honey (optional, for natural sweetness)
  • 1–2 squares dark chocolate (85% or above) (optional for richness)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Heat the almond milk
    Pour almond milk into a small saucepan and warm it over medium heat. Don’t let it boil.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa
    Add cocoa powder, whisking continuously to dissolve it smoothly. Add cinnamon and salt here if you’re using them.
  3. Melt in the chocolate (optional)
    If you’re adding dark chocolate squares, drop them in and stir until fully melted.
  4. Sweeten naturally
    Stir in maple syrup or honey to taste. You can skip this if you like it more bitter/dark.
  5. Add vanilla extract
    Mix in the vanilla extract just before turning off the heat.
  6. Serve hot
    Pour into your favorite mug, maybe top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a few crushed almonds for flair.

  • For a frothy version, blend it for 10 seconds after heating.
  • Want it vegan? Stick to maple syrup.
  • Want it keto? Use stevia or erythritol instead of honey/maple syrup.
