Chocolate Strawberry Cake Recipe


Soft chocolate cake layered with fresh strawberries and creamy chocolate ganache.


Ingredients:

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 and ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 and ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water

For Strawberry Filling:

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

For Chocolate Ganache:

  • 200 gm dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 200 ml fresh cream

For Decoration (Optional):

  • Fresh strawberries (halved or whole)
  • Chocolate shavings

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease and line two round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add hot water and mix until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour batter into the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let the cakes cool completely.

Step 2: Make the Strawberry Filling

  1. In a pan, add chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes until slightly thick.
  3. Let it cool.

Step 3: Prepare Chocolate Ganache

  1. Heat fresh cream in a pan until just about to boil.
  2. Pour it over chopped chocolate.
  3. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  4. Allow it to cool to a spreadable consistency.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one cake layer on a plate.
  2. Spread strawberry filling over it.
  3. Place the second cake layer on top.
  4. Cover the entire cake with chocolate ganache.
  5. Decorate with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings.

Step 5: Chill & Serve

  • Refrigerate the cake for 1-2 hours for best flavor and texture.

  • You can add whipped cream between layers for extra softness.
